Meet Our Team

Heather Diehl, LVT

Heather’s favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is client education and understanding of veterinary medicine. She specializes in making each client and pet feel important in day to day operation and being an advocate for her patients who don’t have a voice. Heather also enjoys specialty surgeries of all kinds. Heather graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology in 2016. She joined Woodworth Animal Hospital in March 2016 as a veterinary technician and is now Lead Technician and Operations Coordinator within the practice. Outside of the workplace Heather enjoys trail riding, hiking, traveling, and being a mother. She has 2 horses, 4 dogs, and 2 cats.

Bo Lewis, LVT

Bo enjoys the surgery and hospitalization side of Veterinary medicine the most. Including, monitoring patients during anesthesia, placing IV catheters, and dealing with surgical emergencies. He also enjoys looking at lab work and cytologies of difficult cases to aid in the diagnosis of our patients. He pursued Veterinary Medicine because of both a deep love of animals and the science of medicine. Bo graduated Cum Laude from Blue Ridge Community College in 2015 with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology and has been a Technician at Woodworth Animal Hospital ever since then. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his fiancée and step son, fishing, riding motorcycles, painting models, taking walks with his dog and napping with his cats.

Lexis Tanner, LVT

Makayla pursued vet med due to her love for animals and her need to help those that cannot help themselves. Since being here at Woodworth she has discovered she enjoys many aspects of what being a technician entails but ultimately she really enjoys being in surgery and doing blood draws, although there is something new to learn every day. Makayla Graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in May of 2022. She previously graduated from Bridgewater College with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science. Makayla has been here at WAH since 2020 starting off in our kennel and working her way to the technician she is today. When not in work she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog finding things to do outside like hiking or lying on the beach.

Sarah Hanson, Animal Care Coordinator & Senior Vet Assistant

Sarah’s main goal here at WAH is to make sure every animal that enters the practice has a positive experience and receives top-notch quality care. On top of patient care, she really enjoys assisting in surgery, working with feral cats, client communication and expanding her knowledge within the Vet Med field. Sarah joined WAH in 2016 as a kennel attendant; her passion for animals and this style of work helped her quickly work her way up the ladder to Senior Veterinary Assistant and Animal Care Coordinator. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking with her dog, kayaking, making art, traveling to new places with her husband and friends and chilling at home with her cats!
